You're Invited to Crosspoint’s Thanksgiving Dinner!

Thanksgiving is a beautiful time to gather together, reflect on all we’re grateful for, and lift up our thanks to God. This year, Crosspoint warmly invites you to join us for a special Thanksgiving Dinner featuring traditional American dishes and great fellowship.

  • Date: Saturday, 28 November (RSVP by 22 November)

  • Time: 18:00

  • Location: Crosspoint — Trondheimsveien 5D, 0560 Oslo

Bring friends and family to share in this celebration and experience the joy of Thanksgiving together. We’d love to know if you’re joining us and if you’ll be bringing any guests, so we can prepare a place for everyone. Please also let us know if anyone in your group has any food allergies or dietary restrictions.

We also encourage everyone to bring side dishes that represent your own countries — this will make our celebration even richer and more meaningful.

Let’s gather with grateful hearts and make this Thanksgiving a memorable time for all. We look forward to celebrating with you!

Story of Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is a tradition that began in North America and is especially celebrated in the United States and Canada. One of the best-known stories goes back to 1621, when English settlers, known as the Pilgrims, shared a harvest meal with the Wampanoag people. The Wampanoag had helped the settlers survive in a new land. However, the history of Thanksgiving is also connected to the difficult experiences of Native Americans, and it is important to remember this part of the story.

Over time, Thanksgiving became a holiday and a special time for families and friends to gather, share a meal, and give thanks for the blessings in their lives. Traditional foods include turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie. Many families also take time to share what they are thankful for.

For us at Crosspoint, Thanksgiving is a wonderful opportunity to come together as a church family. Although it is not originally a Norwegian tradition, giving thanks is at the heart of our Christian faith. The Scripture reminds us to give thanks in all circumstances (1 Thessalonians 5:18). As we share food and fellowship, we want to remember God's faithfulness, celebrate His goodness, and express our gratitude for one another.
